Cellular concrete - construction material of the 21st century

In the 21st century, only solutions that guarantee the right quality and measurable economic benefits will deserve attention in every field of technology. This trend also applies to the building materials industry, in particular to wall materials.

In the 21st century, only solutions that guarantee the right quality and measurable economic benefits will deserve attention in every field of technology. This trend also applies to the building materials industry, in particular to wall materials.

Cellular concrete is a material commonly known and used in the construction of single- and multi-family houses, industrial and service construction. It has a number of excellent properties, thanks to which it is the best material for building walls. It combines the features of construction and insulation material. In order to reconcile these two features, cellular concrete must be distinguished by adequate strength with a very favorable thermal conductivity coefficient. The 70-year period of using cellular concrete in the world and the 50-year-old in Poland testifies to its good durability. Cellular concrete does not age, it is resistant to chemical and biological corrosion.

H + H Polska as a leader in the market of cellular concrete in Poland began its activity on the Polish market a few years ago by buying factories in Warsaw, Puławy, Gorzkowice, Lidzbark and Skawina. And with this strong accent he marked his presence on the Polish market and gained the reputation of a reliable and reliable business partner. From the very beginning, the company focused on the production and sale of high-quality cellular concrete blocks, which resulted in the modernization of plants and adaptation of the material to European standards. H + H Polska has been a producer of cellular concrete in the following densities: 400, 500, 550 and 600.

From July 2009 at the Gorzkowice plant, blocks in densities of 350 and 700 are available. In 2009, the production of Termorex gray blocks in TLMB accuracy, ie blocks with the highest dimensional accuracy, was started and currently Termorex blocks 400, which are the nearest time will be available for sale. H + H Polska Sp. z o. o. as the only producer in Europe will produce gray blocks with a density of 400.

Blocks in light densities, in turn, make single-layer walls, and all this is possible due to a reasonable compromise between strength and thermal insulation, which is why cellular concrete is one of the few building materials that allows homogeneous walls to be erected without the need for additional insulation.

Table 1. U heat transfer coefficient values for single-layer walls made of H + H cellular concrete.

As can be seen from the table of cellular concrete walls presented above, H + H meets the requirements for U≤0.3 [W / m2K] for 350, 400, 500 blocks, thanks to which the investor can choose and apply the material he needs without having to perform additional building insulation.

This solution deserves special attention due to:

• A favorable microclimate in the room associated with the migration of moisture,

• The ability to accumulate thermal energy regardless of the season and conditions outside,

• Easiness and speed of erecting walls, eliminating the possibility of assembly errors, which often happens in the case of sandwich walls.

• Lower wall construction costs.

From the point of view of ergonomics and labor consumption, elements of aerated concrete TLMB varieties 350 and 400 are characterized by large dimensions of blocks with a relatively small weight, which increases the progress of masonry work. Not without significance is the fact that most of the masonry work is done by hand and the weight of the parts being moved plays a significant role. Thanks to the larger dimensions with a correspondingly low weight, we save time and money when building a building. Dimensions of TLMB cores are given in Table 2.

Table 2. Dimensions of blocks and tiles produced in H + H plants

Thanks to the use of state-of-the-art technologies and the continuous development of its products, H + H Polska Sp. z o. o. has the option of offering products of the highest quality. Blocks 700 varieties produced at the plant in Gorzkowice designated PP6-0.70 are characterized by the highest compressive strength of all offered H + H products. As a result, the walls are made with a higher load capacity, which allows the construction of higher buildings (Table 3).

Table 3. Compressive strength of H + H cellular concrete blocks

These blocks, however, have worse thermal properties, therefore it is necessary in this case to insulate the building.

To make single-layer walls H + H offers blocks in densities 350 produced in the plant in Gorzkowice, and blocks in density 400 produced in the plant in Skawina. These blocks do not have such a high compressive strength, but they have the lowest heat conductivity coefficient λ from all masonry materials available on our market (table 4).

Cellular concrete - how to choose the type of cellular concrete blocks for wall parameters

Cellular concrete is a matter that is made of quartz sand or ash, cement, lime and water. The porous structure is characteristic for aerated concrete, which it owes, among others good thermal insulation properties. What should you pay attention to when choosing a suitable cellular concrete for building walls?

Blocks are made of aerated concrete. Their important parameter is the bulk density - depending on it, the blocks are produced in several different varieties (with a density of 400, 500, 600, 700). The higher the density of aerated concrete, the higher is its strength, but at the same time has lower thermal insulation.

Cellular concrete - concrete grade and thermal insulation

The 500 or 600 cultivars, which are readily used for the construction of structural walls, are characterized by high strength, however, they are not as warm as those characterized by lower strength of the 400 modulus block. It is assumed that class 400 blocks allow to obtain the U-value = 0.18 W / (m2 · K), class 500 - U = 0.20 W / (m2 · K), and class 600 - U = 0.22 W / (m2 · K). It must be remembered that the lower the permeation coefficient, the better the material protects against heat losses.

For the construction of sandwich walls insulated with mineral wool or polystyrene, class 500 and 600 cellular concrete are recommended, because thermal insulation of the wall is largely due to the insulation material. Therefore, there is no need to use 400 blocks, which are great for single-layer walls. Unfortunately, the warmer the cell block is, the generally worse it insulates acoustically.

Cellular concrete is a vapor-permeable material that is easy to process - it can be cut and grinded, practically to any shape. For this reason, cellular concrete blocks are readily used in the construction of arched walls.

Cellular concrete and wall thickness

Various blocks of various dimensions are available on the market. This allows you to make the optimal choice as to their thickness and length, so that masonry work can be carried out efficiently, without additional investment. Single-layer walls are usually built from 36.5 or 48 cm thick blocks , in a double-layer wall the wall usually has a thickness of 24-30 cm . For the construction of partition walls, a cellular concrete with a smaller thickness, eg 6 or 12 cm, is used .

Forms and shapes

On the market, we find blocks cut with less accuracy (marked with the GPLM symbol), intended for bricklaying walls for a thick joint (ordinary mortar) and blocks cut on modern slicers (marked with the TLMA symbol), which are coated with thin-layer adhesive mortars. Cellular concrete, like hollow bricks, may have shorter sides contoured for feathers and grooves. Thanks to that, they are bricked without having to fill the joint with vertical mortar.

BAUMIT Implementation of the cement floor ... effective and reliable floor solutions.

Express, very strong and guarantee exceptional durability! So in a few words you can define Baumit Rapido 1 Speed - an instant cement floor that allows you to quickly make all kinds of floor underlays, and can also be used as a final floor layer. And if the priority is not extra speed and / or very high strength, you can use other ready cement foundations from the Baumit offer, which also significantly accelerate the implementation of works and guarantee very good and stable properties.

Preparation of the substrate

The method of preparing the substrate depends on the construction system that we apply to the floor underlay / floor being made. However, always the substrate must be sufficiently strong and stable and free from loose fragments. It is necessary to ensure proper separation (expansion joints) from walls and other elements (eg poles) located in the room, arranging, for example, dilatation tape, special profiles or using thin polystyrene foam strips.

Complex foundation (bonded to the ground)

It is carried out directly on a load-bearing structural foundation. The key is to ensure a permanent connection to the ground through a primer or adhesion layer. All contamination and layers that may weaken adhesion should be removed. Properly prepared, cleaned and vacuumed substrate should be thoroughly primed with a suitable preparation.

Foundation not associated with the substrate (on the separating layer)

The solution is used in the case of substrates of poor quality (low strength, difficult to remove impurities, eg oiling) and when it is difficult to ensure adequate adhesion. The floor underlay is separated from the ground by, for example, PE foil with a suitable thickness, e.g. 0.2 mm . On substrates exposed to moisture, separating layer may be moisture insulation.

Floating foundation on insulation (thermal / acoustic) and underfloor heating

This primer is separated from the substrate by a layer of insulation (EPS boards, extruded polystyrene XPS or mineral wool, acoustic mats). In the case of this solution, it is necessary to use specially designed (with appropriate hardness) boards made of expanded polystyrene or wool and to ensure thorough insulation on the whole surface. It allows to obtain the expected parameters of thermal and / or acoustic insulation. In case when the floor underlay additionally fulfills the function of space heating, the water (heating pipes) or electric installation (wires or mats) installed therein is used.

Regardless of the construction system, Baumit ready floor underlays can be used in any of the solutions described above. They can be used not only inside but also outdoors. Additionally, they are perfect for both dry and wet and wet places (eg swimming pools, baths, industrial kitchens).

Minimum thickness when using the Baumit Rapido 1 Speed light floor:

ground related primer: ≥ 10 mm (on tack coat)

primer on the separating layer: ≥ 35 mm

underlay on thermal / acoustic insulation: ≥ 40 mm

underfloor underfloor: ≥ 45 mm + d *

d * - thickness of heating elements

Drying speed of Baumit Rapido 1 Speed floor

Drying speed of Baumit Rapido 1 Speed floor

Residual moisture content over time, results were obtained at approx. 20oC and 65% humidity.

Before laying the cladding, eg PVC, the parquet should be tested with humidity (CM method).

Execution of works

Laying dilatation

Laying dilatation

The substrate must be load-bearing, hard, stable, dry and free from impurities that impair adhesion. It is necessary to check the deviations of the substrate from the assumed level, ie perform leveling using, for example, a leveler or a laser level. When determining the upper level, take into account the recommended minimum thickness of the undercoat as well as the thickness of all layers that will be laid on it.

In addition to the peripheral dilatations mentioned earlier (and the separation of the foundation, among others from poles or stairs), it is also necessary to make expansion joints between the rooms.

Note: perimeter expansion joints must be of appropriate thickness (usually 1 cm, for example ). It should also be remembered to transfer (reconstruct) the structural dilatation existing in the ground.

Proper care

The freshly laid foundation should be protected against exposure to high temperatures, direct sunlight, low air humidity and drafts. To ensure optimal binding and maturing conditions, a freshly made surface is recommended to be protected from too rapid drying by, for example, sprinkling with water and covering with foil. Uneven binding and drying of the mortar can lead to scratches and delamination.

Priming

Priming

With complex layers, thoroughly vacuum the substrate and prime with Baumit Grund or Baumit Super Grund (depending on the absorbency of the substrate). Leave the primed surface to dry. For thinner layers of primers, i.e. from 1 to 3 cm , the so-calledsludging the substrate using Baumit Connect and laying the primer on a fresh bonding layer ("wet on wet" method).

In the case of foundations on the insulation, after preparing and leveling the substrate, a thermal / acoustic insulation layer should be laid, followed by a construction foil (minimum 10 cm overlap) with a curvature on the walls.

Laying the mortar

Laying the mortar

The floor foundation should be laid on the ground immediately after preparation. The mortar should be removed with a patch that is slid over pre-arranged guides (eg metal direction strips). It should be ensured that the thickness of the undercoat in any place is not less than that recommended for a given product and construction system. For a better spreading and compacting of the undercoat, you can apply a spin with a patch. After laying and leveling the foundation, the guides should be removed, filled with mortar and smoothed / trowelled or used with power trowels. With the planned finishing ceramic tiles, we can omit the scuffing of the undercoat.

Preparation of the mortar

Use clean water and observe the recommended amount of mixing water! Adding more water than recommended amountweakens the strength of the floor / undercoat, extends the drying time, may cause the formation of "cement milk" on the surface and result in increased shrinkage and cracking of the undercoat.

Ready underlay / Laying carpets

Ready underlay / Laying carpets

Pedestrian traffic is possible after a time depending on the underlay used. For Rapido 1 Speed after approx. 3 hours. Laying of floor coverings can be started after a time depending on the type and thickness of the foundation as well as temperature and humidity. If Rapido 1 Speed is used, the cladding can be laid after 24 hours.

A wide range of applications

Baumit cementitious primers are perfectly suited for any finishing materials, eg ceramic tiles, stone, carpet, PVC *, cork, panels and wooden floors, eg parquet.

(* - before laying PVC thin-layer flooring, it is recommended to apply a smoothing layer to the underlay, eg from Baumit Nivello 10 or Nivello Quattro).

The Baumit Rapido 1 Speed instant floor can be successfully used also for large format and exotic parquet flooring, as well as resin coatings and floors. Thanks to fast binding and drying, it is irreplaceable also for quick renovations and places where short time of work is important. Due to the high abrasion resistance Rapido 1 Speed can also be the final floor layer.

Cement screeds (screeds) Baumit are also designed to form inheritances allowing for the formation of ramps and leveling thresholds.

The products are resistant to temperature changes, which allows them to be used in systems with underfloor heating. In addition, they are frost-resistant and are ideal as primers for use on terraces and balconies.

Contractors looking for a proven and effective solution will probably also appreciate the fact that Baumit primers are designed for both manual and machine placement. They can be used in both residential and public buildings as well as warehouses and industrial facilities.

Water-saving batteries

Water bills can make us dizzy. So we are looking for savings. Producers, who are aware of the needs and expectations of customers, bring to the market innovative solutions that help us save water, and thus reduce bills.

Water-saving batteries

Water-saving batteries

The amount of water used can be reduced by reducing its flow. How? We can, for example, invest in batteries with aerators, contactless or thermostatic batteries.

A creative aerator

It can be mounted on existing batteries. Aerator is a kind of strainer fixed at the end of the spout, which aerates the flow of outflowing water. Even though it seems that the same amount of water flows out of the tap, thousands of tiny bubbles are added to the stream. Such a change does not reduce the effectiveness of cleaning, however, filling the vessel will last longer than with the usual stream. Aerators often have a ball joint - it allows you to direct the stream of water to any place, which increases the comfort of use. A traditional aerator reduces water consumption by around 15%. There are super-powerful aerators on the market that limit the water flow by 40-60%. In building supermarkets, you can buy the whole set from about PLN 20. Using only one sink with a battery perlator, a family of four can save up to PLN 100-150 per year. The disadvantage of aerators is the quick sticking of the strainer. It is often enough to wipe the strainer with your finger, and if it is not enough, unscrew and rinse with running water. You can easily replace the aerator with a new one. Both aerators for spout with internal and external threads are available on sale.

Less water with an eco button

The eco button is designed to dispense up to 50% less water without the special effect of the observation that it actually flies less out of the spout. The eco button is located on the back or side of the battery. If we press it, we will reach a water flow of13-14 l per minute, which is the maximum opportunity. After re-unscrewing, the tap comes out only 5-7 per minute. This is due to the fact that the battery is equipped with a limiter that locks the head allowing to move in a given field. The blockage is that it is a control over the flowing water, and in particular over its quantity, which makes the stream 40% smaller.

Water-saving head

Some companies produce batteries with a special, water-saving head (cartridge), through which we can gradate the intensity of the stream. The head is equipped with a lock, sometimes called a brake. By raising the handle of the battery, we feel a strong resistance - 5-7 l of water flows out of the battery . Only after overcoming this resistance, we achieve the maximum outflow - about 13 l / min. The saving is thus up to 50%.

Thermostatic faucets

The thermostatic faucets are equipped with a blockade preventing the outflow of water with a temperature lower than that set on the thermostat. The water flows only when the temperature set by the user has been reached. Thanks to such a mechanism, we save those few minutes (and a dozen or so liters of water) during which we wait for hot water.

Non-touch and electronically controlled batteries

Another solution that saves water is contactless and tactile taps. They are not popular in the household, most often we find them in public toilets. They are relatively expensive, but very economical - water flows from them only when we put our hands under the spout or touch it. Water stops when we leave our hands or after a certain time. e.g. after 30 seconds. Thanks to such a system, the reduction of water consumption is even at the level of 40-50%. There are also electronically controlled batteries - a remote control. With the remote control you can set not only the desired water temperature, but also the appropriate stream size: 2, 5 or 13 l / min, and - by pressing the appropriate button - to store the set values. Batteries with remote control or non-contact batteries can reduce water consumption by more than 50%.

The amount of water used can be reduced by reducing its flow. How? We can, for example, invest in batteries with aerators, contactless or thermostatic batteries.

Concealed shower taps - benefits, restrictions on use

Concealed batteries are gaining more and more popularity in our country. A lot of fears arise from their assembly. Completely unnecessary. See what to follow when buying and installing a concealed shower mixer.

Concealed batteries consist of two parts: surface and concealed, which only after the installation become the whole. These elements are most often purchased separately, although sometimes it happens that they constitute a set. The surface-mounted part means visible elements of the battery: a handle for regulating the temperature and power of the water stream (possibly 2 separately levers) and a spout. The other elements are invisible, placed in the wall, covered with glaze. This is a very practical solution, because it takes up little space, thanks to which the bathing surface is not limited. Concealed batteries can be single or double-handed - with a shower switch (allows to connect two elements of the installation, eg bathtub spout and shower handle) or without it (only one element can be connected, eg a shower handset). The installation of a concealed battery requires a greater amount of work than installing a surface-mounted battery, but this can not be counted as a disadvantage.

Benefits of installing a concealed installation

· Functionality - a large selection of components that can be used while building the installation allows for the original interior design of the bathroom. Individual elements, eg a shower head, shower set, nozzles or spout can be mounted according to our individual preferences.

· Space saving - the use of flush-mounted taps is an ideal solution in small-sized bathrooms. The whole battery is placed in the wall, saving space outside, where only the rosette masking together with the regulator lever of hot and cold water is visible. All pipes are placed in the walls and ceilings, and individual elements of the installation where they will be the most efficient, available and functional.

· Fashion - flush-mounted installations are particularly well-placed in today's fashionable minimalist projects, where simplicity of form, design and function is put on.

The quality of concealed installation

The installations themselves do not have negative features. However, their certain drawback is that it is, after all, a more expensive solution than the standard one and more labor-intensive. The use of a concealed installation in the bathroom requires the purchase of high quality components, with high durability and reliability. They must be perfectly matched and tight, so it's a good idea to choose items from one manufacturer when shopping. Placing the battery or other parts in the wall under the glaze or gypsum board should give a guarantee of reliable operation for many years, because each repair will be quite expensive.

Installation of concealed battery

The first thing to do before installing the concealed mixer is to check the thickness of the wall on which it will be found - the depth on which the flush-mounted modules are installed is 6-12 cm . It may happen that the wall will be too thin. In such a situation, a plasterboard wall should be built or a few blocks made of cellular concrete should be added to the existing wall.

The place where the battery should be installed should be water pipes - on the left side from heat and on the right side from the cold side. The supply of water for showering should be done rigidly (without the use of hoses in the braid) and equipped with shut-off valves that will enable the water to be shut off to the shower mixer without closing its flow in the entire building. The valves should be placed in an accessible place or behind the inspection door.

The nominal flow rate should be 15-20 l / min (unless the user is given a different value), the nominal working pressure of 0.2-0.4 MPa, and the temperature of hot water of about 40 ° C . The most common is the diameter of the DN15 water supply approach, and DN20 for the nozzle spray.

When installing a concealed installation, it is also necessary to forge a cavity of such size that a concealed element fits in it and to create furrows in which water supply pipes will be laid to the place where the spout, sprinkler or nozzles are installed. After the installation of the furrow, align and finish the wall surface.

The final stage of the installation of a concealed wall-mounted mixer in the bathroom is the fixing of its surface element and the screed, showerhead, shower handle or surface elements of the nozzles.

Bathroom faucets - what should you choose to make cleaning them easy?

Bathroom faucets are exposed to various dirt that is difficult to remove. You can choose, however, which maintenance will not be difficult, such as contactless or concealed faucets.

Keeping the bathroom in perfect cleanliness is not the easiest task. Dust, water stains, soap deposits or stone effectively hinder the cleaning of bathroom components, especially bathroom faucets, which are most exposed to water, stone and cleaning agents. Looking around for a bathroom faucet, you should pay attention not only to its price - it is also worth looking at it from the practical side and choose one that will be easy to keep clean.

Easy-to-clean bathroom faucets

The easy cleaning of the bathroom faucet is influenced by m.in. its shape. Batteries with flat horizontal spouts quickly get dirty during everyday use. Every drop of water that falls on the flat surface of a horizontal screed will not flow out of it but will dry out, creating little aesthetic stains. A better solution is therefore the selection of batteries with rounded, streamlined shapes, from which drops of water will easily run off, leaving no hard-to-remove marks. A good solution is to buy a battery with a special coating that hinders scale deposition. Thanks to this, it will keep the aesthetic look longer.

The easiest to keep clean are touchless faucets - no tap is required, as water starts to flow out of them when we put our hands under such a battery and stops when we take them from under the spout. In addition, contactless batteries are free of handles and taps, around which the stone often accumulates.

Concealed batteries

Another solution for keeping the bathroom clean are concealed faucets. They consist of a concealed element that hides in the wall and attaches to it pipes with water and a surface element (nozzle, knobs, spouts), which is mounted after finishing the wall. All unsightly connections are therefore hidden in the wall. This solution means that we have less cleaning elements left.

Batteries for special tasks

A wide range of sanitary fittings available in the offer of producers and distributors gives very large opportunities to those who are in need - whether during renovation and changing these elements of equipment for our bathrooms or kitchens or when arranging new rooms.

Often, however, there are situations that the products available in the standard offer, especially in the case of modifications, do not meet the requirements and expectations of customers. And what will you do then? There is nothing else but searching for unconventional solutions - that is, those that will be able to satisfy unusual needs.

Deante's offer meets such needs. It has been gradually extended for a long time with new models of bathroom and kitchen faucets, which can hardly be classified as classic and typical.

Let's first look at bathroom models, which definitely constitute a much wider range of offers, and looking at our bathrooms, especially those located in blocks, batteries must often meet not one and two functions at the same time - this is what our customers expect. To satisfy this need, we give the client a model of a basin mixer with a bidettet.

It fulfills two functions at the same time - firstly, a basin mixer standing on the washbasin (basic task), but also gives us the possibility to use the handset as a bidet element. Not having in the bathroom room too much space, where we could mount just a bidet equipped with a bidet mixer we can use a bidetta battery that will successfully replace it. We must, of course, meet the basic condition to be able to use this type of solution - i.e. the location of the toilet bowl must be in the vicinity of the sink, so that we can use the battery. The bidetta handset is small and does not take up much space. Thanks to this solution we have two in one.

Looking further at the sink in our bathroom, we can use it as a standing mixer with a pull-out telephone.

Thanks to it, in addition to the classic application, we can use the handset when needed - to facilitate the filling of larger dishes with water, washing and rinsing the wash basin itself - it makes it easier to keep it clean. In addition to the basin we have the option of mounting a standing mixer with so-called swivel spout.

Such an armature fitting makes it easier to use it and finds many supporters among users. The swivel spout resembles a spout used in a classic sink mixer, but it has been shorter since the basins usually have smaller compartments than sinks.

During major changes in our bathing salons, we often decide to change the washbasin into the currently fashionable wash basin. It also requires changing the battery that will be able to supply such a basin bowl with water. We must then use a battery with a raised body, which should also be mounted on the counter, and not on the wash basin itself.

Thanks to the high body, the battery has the right range and gives us the opportunity to pour water into the basin. Not only our home bathrooms require the use of unusual solutions. In places of public utility, such as gas stations or shopping centers, special types of batteries are installed, which here give the opportunity to save water. These are electronic, sensor, or temporary batteries, so that the time of water outflow is limited and water consumption is lower.

These batteries are activated by a motion sensor that opens the water flow and after a pre-programmed time it closes its outflow. Not only a device such as a bathroom sink sometimes requires the use of a special type of battery type. Another example is the bathtub. If you want to look for savings, not only space, but also money, you can use one battery for the bathtub and the sink at the same time. This is possible provided that they are in the immediate vicinity. Then we install a wall-mounted mixer with an extended spout that covers the two devices, and in addition to the spout we install a shower hose with a handset that will fulfill the basic function as in a standard bath faucet.

Many multi-hole bathtub batteries will appear in the offer of many manufacturers, but they require a bathtub with a suitable shelf or the preparation of such a shelf outside of it. However, we can compromise and have a battery installed on the bathtub, but it requires only one hole, so the bathtub does not have to be large.

When replacing non-standard bathroom faucets, it is worth mentioning thermostatic faucets. Here we have available all models, both basin, bidet, bathtub and shower. This solution is both economical and ecological, because we use less water thanks to the constant adjustment of the temperature at the 38 ° C standard. Batteries of this type are also safer to use, because they give a better chance of avoiding scalding hot water by mechanically blocking the flow of water warmer than 38oC.

But is only the bathroom a room where we have special requirements for the fittings? Of course not. The kitchen also sets special tasks for us. Many of us do not use tap water as drinking water. We use previously filters to prepare it for consumption. We use different types of equipment for this: jug filters, or mounted under the sink, which in turn require an additional valve. That's why we can find a solution in the battery offer that allows you to use both network and filtered water.

We have two aerators in one of the spouts, one for water from the network and the other for filtered water. There are two channels in the spout, which feed two types of water, one from the network, the other from the filter, and the switch gives you the opportunity to use the water of your choice. All the examples of battery models mentioned above were created as a result of reported user needs. It is us, who want to facilitate the everyday use of the bathroom and kitchen, we set requirements for the producers. Let's take care that they are as high as possible, because thanks to this we live easier, often cheaper, and in addition we care about reducing the amount of water used - the greatest asset we received from Nature.

Washbasin faucets - what are the types of blast batteries

Choosing the right battery is of great importance during its subsequent use and should be done before buying a washbasin. If we choose a headboard battery, the sink should have a special hole to allow direct installation of this type of battery.

Front panel battery

Front panel battery

Front-mounted faucets (or standing ones) mounted on the edge of the basin owe their popularity to the ease of assembly and location correction without the need to forge walls. They are connected with the water system most often with flexible hoses.Installation must be close to the place where the batteries are installed, but it is not necessary to accurately place the pipes before finishing the walls and glazing.

Single-lever or two-handle basin mixer

Front-mounted batteries can be single or double- handle. As the name suggests, they differ in the number of handles. Most often we choose single-lever mixers (also called mixers). They are easier and more convenient in everyday use. A single handle allows you to efficiently adjust both the water flow and its temperature - raising it up, start the flow of water and increase its flow, and turning it to the left or right, change the temperature of the water. Single-lever mixers are economical from two-handle, because they allow you to significantly save water.

Two-handle batteries - two taps for cold and hot water - used to be commonly used on the market are also available on the market. Today, brass handles and screed can most often be found in retro style bathroom bathrooms. Although the quality of two-handle batteries has increased, their use is not conducive to saving water. Every time we unscrew the taps, we have to regulate the water temperature - before it sets its temperature, we have to wait. This is hampered by differences in water pressure and temperature in both lines. Turning the tap also takes a moment. The ease introduced by the manufacturers is to limit the rotation range of the knob to 270 ° or even 180 °, so that we can get the desired water jet faster.

Non-touch and touch batteries

We usually meet them in public toilets of some institutions, restaurants or offices, but more and more often purchased for private use. To run them, just touch the battery lightly or put your hand under the tap. There are also single-hole button-type faucets with mixer and knob for setting the water. All types of batteries are usually self-closing - they switch off after a certain time (for example after 20 seconds), after taking your hands or after using a fixed amount of water. Such batteries must be connected to a power source or powered by special batteries.

Basin mixer: which head?

When buying a battery, whether one or two-handle, pay attention to the battery head. It mixes cold and warm water, which is why it is often exposed to failures. Brass slider heads are rare today. They have been replaced by ceramic sliding heads, which facilitate quick setting of the temperature and strength of the water stream, allowing for more economical management. As a rule, they are equipped with a filter that protects against rust and sand. Manufacturers provide a 5-year warranty on the leakproofness of ceramic heads.

One, two, three holes ...

Instead of a traditional one-hole mixer for the sink, we can choose a two- or three-hole one.

One-hole, one-arm and two-handle batteries take up little space, so they are willingly and often bought. Manufacturers outdo each other in original battery designs, most of which are just one-hole.

Two-hole batteries - they are also available in one and two-handle versions, but rarely used.

Three-hole batteries - are usually maintained in a modern style, although you can buy stylized for the 1920s. They have two knobs and a spout.

Additives for washbasin taps

Batteries can be attractive not only thanks to aesthetically looking, but also thanks to well-chosen accessories.

The thermostat allows for significant water saving - the control system "makes sure" that the outgoing water does not exceed the temperature set on the knob. Knob temperature has additional interlock against its inadvertently increase above 38 ° C . As a result, batteries are safe for children who use them. For the same purpose, you can also purchase a thermostatic mixer with a built-in ecigarette and a lock that controls the amount of water flowing out.

Aerator is a system of very strongly aerating sieves flowing out of the water. Thanks to the fact that the bubbles increase its volume, the stream does not change and we have the impression that a lot of water flows.

The automatic plug works in such a way that on the back of the battery there is a lever, which lifting causes blockage of the outflow.

Two-stage handle lever - the handle can be lifted vertically in two steps, separated by a point of resistance, thanks to which we will not be able to unscrew the full stream.

Resistance limiter for water temperature - the required temperature is set when the battery is installed. To obtain warmer water, you need to overcome the light resistance of the limiter.

Quick Stop - a certain amount of water will flow out when you press a button from the battery.

A convenient gadget of basin faucets is also a pull-out spout and a bidet, and thus a shower hose ended with a small shower head. Also an elongated handle that can be actuated with the elbow when your hands are very dirty is a great option.
